CIS Launches National Roll Call

The future of our country starts with our students. Today’s students will be the leaders who guide our society, the entrepreneurs who transform our economy, the workers who drive our industries, the scientists who craft new technologies, and the artists who convey our dreams, hope, and concerns.

Students can’t succeed if they are not in school. Once students who have been chronically absent leave school, they are at higher risk for health problems, face difficulty finding jobs, and a host of other negative outcomes.

Communities In Schools is working in hundreds of communities nationwide alongside parents, educators, community-based organizations, and school and district leaders to help our students overcome obstacles and succeed in school and life.

To raise awareness about chronic absenteeism, Communities In Schools printed 15 million names on a roll call sheet – one name to represent every chronically absent student in the U.S.  Learn more about our new “Being Present Matters” public service campaign.

Commitment to Our Service Delivery

Our mission calls on us to embrace the rich backgrounds, experiences, talents, cultures and contributions that our students, families and staff bring to the work of transforming schools and communities. Our differences are a vital strength and an integral part of who we are as an organization.

Our relational approach drives us to ensure a sense of safety and belonging for all. We cultivate a flourishing professional community where staff of every background and experience can thrive; where we treat each other with caring, dignity, and respect for differences, and; where all members are valued, heard, and respected.

We strive to operate with a sense of urgency and accountability grounded in compassionate leadership to build a culture that inspires constant learning and continuous improvement.
