Volunteer for CIS
Be the Difference a Student Needs
A caring adult can change a student’s life.
At Communities In Schools of the Greater Wichita Falls Area, we believe that every student deserves the support of a trusted, caring adult. Volunteers play a vital role in helping students stay in school and achieve in life by building meaningful relationships and providing encouragement, guidance, and support throughout the school day.
The impact of our volunteers extends far beyond the classroom. Through their time, compassion, and commitment, students are empowered to improve academic performance, attend school more consistently, and develop positive behaviors. While educators and CIS staff provide essential services, the connection formed with a volunteer offers a unique source of motivation, confidence, and belonging.

Volunteer Opportunities
Most volunteer opportunities take place on school campuses and are designed to meet the unique needs of each school community. Volunteers are matched with opportunities where they can make the greatest impact. Because our work centers around supporting students during the school day, most volunteer opportunities are available between 7:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on weekdays, and after school hours on occasion.
To be eligible, volunteers must complete a criminal background check, application, and volunteer training session before beginning their placement. Applications will be reviewed to determine placement eligibility.
Qualified applicants will be contacted by our Quality Assurance Specialist for placement details. If you have any questions, please contact Atzhiri Acosta at aacosta@cisgwf.org
