Who We Are

About Communities In Schools

Since its conception in 2006, Communities In Schools of the Greater Wichita Falls Area has placed site coordinators in local schools to empower students to confront and overcome personal challenges and structural barriers – things that happen outside the classroom – so they can take charge of the future they want for themselves, their communities, and each other.

Student success and achievement in life are our core goals. The more students succeed, the stronger our communities become.

The Communities In Schools model of integrated student supports is an evidence-based, whole-school approach that ensures students have access to the resources and relationships to reach their full potential. Our name says it all: we bring community resources into schools.

The Five CIS Basics

At CIS, we have always been guided by the Five Basics. There are things every young person needs and deserves.

A personal one-on-one relationship with a caring adult.

A healthy start and a healthy future.

A safe place to learn and grow.

A marketable skill to use upon graduation.

A chance to give back to peers and community.
