What We Do

Our Model

Communities In Schools of Greater Wichita Falls Area places dedicated staff members, called Site Coordinators, in local schools where they build relationships with students who are struggling, identify their unmet needs, and mobilize community support to meet those needs. While focusing on improving attendance, behavior and academic performance, our ultimate goal is to increase the number of students who are promoted and graduate on time.

CIS Student Support Specialists or Site Coordinators deliver Integrated Student Supports on the school campus in three tiers:

Tier 1: School-Wide Services

Building relationships with students and addressing needs that may be causing barriers to their academic success. For example: social service support, community partnerships and parent involvement activities and interactions.

Tier 2: Student Groups & Mentoring

Small group opportunities to meet the objective of building relationships with students and using small group activities to teach academic and life success principles, mentoring, career leadership prep, as well as student interest groups.

Tier 3: Individualized Support

Providing individualized case management for students who have at-risk indicators and are experiencing significant challenges in the areas of attendance, behavior, and/or core class performance.

Within each of these tiers, CISGWFA Site Coordinators provide the following services:
